About the Trainer
My name is Alex Hunt CPDT-KA. I am a certified professional dog trainer through the CCPDT, as well as an AKC approved evaluator. I also train service dogs with Train a Dog Save a Warrior. I grew up with Great Danes and Kuvasz and currently I have a pit-mix named Bubbles. We compete in AKC Fast CAT and agility together. I have been working with dogs professionally for over 6 years. I have been working with people to train their dogs for 3 years. I value the relationship between dog and human and advocate for healthy communication and understanding. In my training I use scientifically backed limited force/limited fear training methods to train dogs, and their people, how to live and communicate with each other.
About Ruff Resonance K9 Academy
Ruff Resonance K9 Academy was founded in 2024 when I wanted a way to give back to the community further and provide families with quality dog training opportunities. At Ruff Resonance we follow the hierarchy of behavior change principles, outlined here, and believe that dogs should be part of the family and treated with respect. We focus on building strong relationships with our dogs so that they want to work with us rather than complying out of fear of pain or punishment. Helping our dogs to learn how to make good choices gives them more freedom and confidence while reducing problematic behaviors. If you have used forceful or punishment methods in the past with your dog, we will meet you where you are at to work towards more sustainable training methods that can help to lower frustration and anxiety levels.

Ruff Resonance partners with local humane societies and shelters to provide training classes to dogs currently in the shelter or foster care. In turn, these dogs will be less likely to be returned to the shelter due to behavioral issues.
